Alcester 2nd XV 27 - 17 Camp Hill
For the second week running Alcester were grateful for replacement opponents taking the fixture in midweek after Southam pulled out.
Camp Hill made the journey from their Shirley base and fought out an entertaining contest, played in an excellent spirit.
The visitors took the lead inside the opening minutes of the game, before Alcester were dealt a double injury blow with both Dave Alldred and Ollie Pittaway forced off with injuries before they were even 10 minutes on the clock.
Alcester’s fortunes improved when Tony Burke scored their first try, before Camp Hill reclaimed the lead with their second score.
Veteran Paul Taylor, making his annual come back from retirement for what is probably the 20th season in succession, did really well to clean up scrappy ball from a line out before the ball was popped to Elliott Evans powered through a tackle to score.
Evans doubled his personal try tally moments later, with a brilliant solo effort after a mazy run from just inside the Camp Hill half. Sam Fell converted the try, to leave the home side ahead at the break 17-10.
Burke scored his second try, early in the second half, before Phil Birks increased Alcester’s lead with his side’s fifth try.
Despite now being well beaten, the visitors fought until the end and scored their third try to leave the final score at 27-17.
