Alcester RFC
Tenbury RFC
Celebrations are underway at Alcester RFC after their promotion to Counties 1 Midlands West (South) was confirmed on Saturday - taking them to play at their highest level of rugby in the club's history.
After sitting in the top two of the league for the whole season, Alcester needed just one point from their game against Tenbury at the weekend to secure promotion.
However, gaining this point was made extremely easy for the red and blacks when their Worcestershire opponents cried off on the morning of the match, unable to field a front row. Alcester were awarded the home walk over, and five league points, securing their second promotion in six years.
Unable to find a friendly fixture to fill the now vacant slot, the afternoon and celebrations didn't pan out as organised, but the team still gathered at the Birmingham Road club to raise a glass to their season's success.
There is one game left of the 2022-23 season to determine the final league standings - a rearranged away fixture at rivals Manor Park, which was called off earlier this year due to a frozen pitch.

In the reverse fixture last year, Alcester claimed the bragging rights in a close game that saw the home side come out 34-31 winners, and they will be hoping to replicate their success one last time.

After third placed Old Wheatleyans cried off on the Nuneaton opponents at the weekend, only two points separate the teams with all the play for on Saturday.
