Alcester RFC
Pinley 16 - 81 Alcester
Alcester ran in thirteen tries in a dominant display against Coventry opponents Pinley on Saturday, for an impressive 81-16 victory.
Despite the home side taking the lead with an early penalty kick, Alcester dominated from then on out. Luke Spencer lead the way with a hattrick performance, with two tries a piece coming from Jamie Clarke and skipper Will Silk, whilst Mark Burrell, Will Mitchell, Matt Johnson, Jack Green, Lewis Wright and Jamie Harland crossed the whitewash during the afternoon.
Pinley brought the scoreline to within one try as they crossed the line half an hour in to the game, but Alcester scored another four tries in the remaining ten minutes of the half. The home side were only consolidated by a successful penalty kick to make it 43-13 at the break.
Five minutes in to the second half, Wright brought about the half-century mark for the red and blacks before Alcester received a blow and were forced down to 14 men. Jack Green was shown a red card for what the ref perceived as a stamp.
Not to be deterred, Alcester scored again but were shown a yellow card not long after as Harry Wylie left the pitch for the remainder of the game taking the visitors down to 13 men.
The red and blacks powered on, and despite being two men down they scored another four tries to seal out the game, with the home side only managing another penalty kick.
Alcester returned with vengeance after losing their second game of the season a fortnight ago, and were awarded a home walk over last weekend. They look to coninue their stride with a home game against Rugby St Andrews.
