Alcester RFC

31 - 12

(HT 26-0)

Nuneaton RFC Ltd

Well, what an excellent match that was! Alcester score from receiving the kick off – fastest try of the season and in typical flair by the captain Corey, side stepping and great hand offs to open the score.

The first half up hill was a master class in teamwork, repeating what they have been taught. Everyone stood their ground, communicated and tackled well.

From Will on the wing – some great low tackles and even driving a player out of the pitch, linked today with some good runs;

Hughie several times stopping the galloping forwards, from front, side and back (literally), taking the highball and running it back;

Benny,Rowan and Henry hitting hard in the tackles and some great counter rucking as front rows should, also with advice with the scrum in the second half with getting low and straight, did the job – from being driven back to driving them back at a rate of knots;

Centre partnership of Corey and Rhys, tackling hard, some great attacking lines and also going in to protect against the jacklers;

Flankers George and Tom tackling well, getting through in the line out and munching the scrum half and making plenty of strong attacking runs, with the latter – George scoring our second try;

Ossie did some of his well known gating runs and breakthroughs as well as some great Jackling, with the powerful runs bagging him a brace of tries the third and the last fifth one;

scrum halves Joey and Ethan were both heard today and started to boss the forwards around, with Joey also making appearances on the wing and at flanker to help accommodate fellow players and did all three admirably - well done;

Jacob at fly half, tackled well and hard as usual, but also put in some excellent side steps and snaking runs;

oh and our final try scorer, scoring our fourth try, our opposite wing Ollie -  what a great first try for him, 80 meters of the pitch bouncing off players at will and on top of that, some great tackles made as well;

That just leads our engine room Jay and Ollie at second row, whom not only put in some crunching tackles, but executed some great counter rucking and some very powerful attacking runs by latter of the pair – Ollie.

Excellent game and now we move onto the semi-final against Old Leamingtonians. Final here we come!!

And one last thing - with the better communication, a good boot to touch, kickoffs and 3 out of 4 conversions and leadership, the Coaches MOTM goes to Corey – well done!
