Title challengers, Shipston, retained their unbeaten record with a second comprehensive win over Alcester this season.
The visitors, showing several changes from the strong side that defeated Trinity Guild last weekend, took time to settle into the game and the hosts were already two tries up before Alcester got into the game.
Alcester enjoyed a fifteen-minute spell of sustained possession in Shipston territory, and the bagged ten unanswered points from an Archie Beddard penalty and conversion, following a try from Pav Sembakutigge.
Unfortunately, Alcester scrum half, Joey Wheeler, suffered a serious hip and pelvic injury and had to be taken by ambulance to hospital, and later for surgery. All at the club wish him well for a speedy recovery.
The visitors never recovered from the blow and being low on numbers with no fresh legs to bring on, the game got away from them and the home side ran out clear winners, although the scoreline was somewhat unflattering to Alcester and doesn’t reflect the competitive nature of the game for most of it.
Skipper, Luke Spencer, nominated full back Archie Beddard as his man of the match.
Alcester host Camp Hill 2nd XV in another league fixture, next weekend, kicking off at 2.15pm.
Alcester 3rds are also due in action on Saturday 24th when they visit their Leamington counter parts, also kicking off at 2.15pm
