Worcester 80 Alcester 7
Alcester were put to the sword by the unbeaten league leaders and champions elect, Worcester, who have completely transformed themselves this season from the side that has struggled at times over the last couple of seasons.
The very wet day made for very poor handling conditions, which the home side coped with far better than Alcester did.
Worcester led 33-7 at the break, with the visitors score coming from prop Sam Lear making a welcome return to action after time out through injury. He acquitted himself well throughout and added a much-needed physical presence up front. Skipper Ed Gough converted his score.
Alcester just couldn’t get going in the second half and the home side took total control to run out clear winners.
Fifth placed Alcester will hope to dust themselves down in preparation for their return to action on Saturday at home, when the entertain Ledbury for a 2.15pm kick off.
