Alcester 2nd XV 10 - 38 Newbold
Alcester travelled to Newbold low on numbers in comparison to what they've had in previous weeks, with many players having to help out in different positions.
It was a cagy opening quarter where it was evident they hadn’t found their stride yet.
James Roberts suffered a significant injury about twenty minutes in, and the game was paused and relocated to a different pitch.
From the restart, Alcester woke up and demonstrated the execution that was previously lacking.
They played the remainder of the half camped firmly inside the opposition's half and were rewarded with a try through Jack Clay.
The second half was a more even affair but the quality of the opposition didn’t allow much room to overcome the deficit.
Alcester got a second try through Che Mathews after a period of pressure in Newbold’s 22 which saw them carded for multiple infringements.
Alcester awarded man of the match to Alex Kershaw for his outstanding work rate in both attack and defence.
Next week, the second team play host to Rugby St Andrews 2nds.
