Old Leamingtonians RFC

20 - 7

(HT 5-7)

Alcester RFC

A much changed Alcester side slipped to a fourth consecutive defeat at The Crofts against an Old Leamingtonians side who have been resurgent in recent weeks.

Amongst the Alcester changes was a first 1st XV start of the season for veteran and club stalwart, Robbie Parker, with his 31st consecutive season of 1st XV rugby.

The hosts scored first but Alcester responded with a try from number 8, Ieuan Hopkin, which was converted by Ed Gough.

The remainder of the half was pretty even with Alcester taking the lead at the break, 5-7.

In the second half, players carrying injuries and the amount of changes to the team started to take its toll, and Alcester were not helped with the sin binning of centre, Dwayne Cruickshank, for a late tackle.

The Leamington side scored 15 unanswered points in the second half and denied Alcester the ball for long periods of it to run out worthy winners.

Alcester will be hoping to rest their injured players for two weeks before a return to action when they play hosts to Camp Hill on the 1st March.
