Old Leamingtonians RFC
Alcester RFC
Camp Hill 38 - 7 Alcester
Alcester’s second XV travelled to Camp Hill on Saturday. The club was very busy as Camp Hill had two home fixtures. The atmosphere was lively and both matches had their share of supporters present.
On the pitch, Alcester’s opposition proved themselves to be extremely accurate and very fast at getting the ball through the hands. They had some strong carriers and collectively looked very dangerous, especially when things become loose and unstructured.
The men in red and black showed real heart and determination in defense. Bravely putting their bodies on the line. Whilst, in attack Alcester were able to positively build through the phases and push their opponents back.
The conditions on the pitch weren’t great and it was arguably unplayable. It was slow and boggy underfoot with several large areas puddled with standing water.
Individual errors were to prove costly in the end as Alcester struggled to maintain possession at times. Camp Hill coped with the conditions far better and were clinical when they needed to be.
For all of their efforts Alcester were unlucky to only come away with 7 points. Sadly a couple of tries were left out there.
With a burst of strength and pace, it was Harry Roderick who managed to dart over the line with Luke Spencer adding the extras.
A tough fixture but one that might prove invaluable preparation for the final two league games.
Next week Alcester 2s are making the short trip away to Shottery for what is set to be a highly competitive fixture.
