Coventrians 32 - 17 Alcester 2nds
Alcester 2s made the trip to Coventrians low on numbers but high in spirits.
Starting the game with 13 men left a lot of pitch to cover, but the men in red and black showed heart and resilience throughout. Having lost their second row, Alcester had to bolster up the pack with Toby Allen and Josh Ellis who usually play in the backs.
Coventrians’ size and experience was clear in the set piece, but in open play it was a fairly even contest.
A gutsy defensive display was put in by all. James Roberts organised the spread really well and managed to get the ball away under pressure a number of times which directly contributed to Alcester’s scores.
Tries from Luke Spencer, Josh Ellis and man of the match Harry Roderick were mere consolation in the end as Coventrians made their man advantage count to win the contest. A tough away trip but there was no shame in defeat.
