Alcester RFC
Coventrians RFC
Alcester 2nd 40 -8 Coventrians
Luke Spencer's side continued their recent great run of form with their fifth win in six games and a comprehensive victory over their visitors from Coventry.
Alcester took the lead through a try from Josh Ellis which Spencer converted before the visitors converted a penalty for their first points of the game.
Glynn Smith added Alcester' second try which Spencer also converted, before the move of the game, and some great hands in the backs, saw an offload from James Roberts to set Spencer in for the third try which he converted for a 21-3 lead.
Spencer scored Alcester's fourth a few moments later, and it looked like the flood gates would open for Alcester but the visitors hit back with a try of their own shortly afterwards for the final score of the half and a 26-8 scoreline at the break.
Alcester made substitutes at half time including Alec Aucott and his experience and power was missing from the scrum in the opening stages of the second half which meant Coventrians got on top in the pack.
This stopped any Alcester continuity until the final stages of the game but they resumed their ascendency with tries from man-of-the-match, Andy McDougall and Luke Clay, which were both converted by Spencer for a perfect afternoon with the boot.
