Alcester 2nd XV 5 Stratford 2nd XV 52
For the second week running Alcester suffered a heavy defeat against their Stratford counterparts.
Alcester were hoping to rewrite the script after last week’s reverse, but Stratford turned up in force, as with their 1st XV fixture at Ludlow called off, this was their club’s only fixture of the weekend.
Despite the unflattering score line, this was another example of the scoreboard not doing justice to the home side’s effort and determination and actually was a much closer contest than the reverse fixture the previous weekend.
Alcester’s try scorer was once again Ollie Pittaway, following up his score at Pearcecroft last weekend, this time with a powerful wrestle to get over the line.
Skipper Luke Spencer nominated William Mitchell as his man of the match, for his tremendous defensive effort which helped rally and galvanise the side.
Alcester face Shottery at Kings Coughton on Saturday (16th December) for the final fixture of the first half of the league season. Kick off at Kings Coughton is 2.15pm
