Alcester Colts 36-33 Sutton Coldfield Colts.
An entertaining game between two teams taking advantage of a week without a league fixture, to work on their respective games.
With a large crowd to entertain, both sides traded tries clocking up 11 during a match that at times, lacked structure but not commitment.
The visitors took an early lead, despite a strong start from Alcester, and held on to it leading 19-12 at half time. The second half saw Alcester start to impose their forward power, with an effective pick’n go, but they failed to take full advantage of space out wide.
Trailing by 4 points going into the final ten minutes, Alcester took the lead for the first time in the match, held on and finished with a deserved win.
They’ll take that into next week’s league match away at Telford. A strong performance and three tries saw Toby Birks pick up Player of the Match.
