Alcester RFC Colts 22-32 Upton-On Severn RFC Colts.
Upton started strong and were soon 22 points ahead.
With such a big lead into the second half, Alcester started to recover, finally finding a way to play their game, putting a number of phases together, retaining possession and gradually closing the gap between two teams that were equally matched.
Alcester scored 17 points to Upton’s 10 in the second half, but the poor start was too much to recover from, with the home team trailing 22-32 at the final whistle.
Both teams picked up a bonus point.
Alcester will take that second half performance into their next game, at home to Bromyard on 17 September.
Congratulations to Josh Hull and James Lampitt on their match debuts, and to Player of the Match, last season’s Turnover King, Toby Magnall.
