Stratford Upon Avon RFC

65 - 5

(HT 0-0)

Alcester RFC

Stratford 2nd XV 65 Alcester 2nd XV 5

Alcester 2nd XV travelled the short distance to play their neighbours Stratford 2nd XV. It was a very cold Saturday afternoon but fortunately the pitch was deemed playable and the game went ahead as planned.

A number of Alcester 2nd XV players made the step up to represent the 1st XV this week and with those and other absences, Alcester were short on numbers.

Stratford sportingly lent Alcester a couple of players to ensure a competitive game went ahead, but Alcester were still down a man for the entire game.

The visitors were met with some hard hitting and strong carrying opponents and it was always going to be a difficult task playing a man down, but the effort was outstanding. Alcester did have periods of dominance, maintaining their structure through multiple phases, but in the end the additional player took its toll although the scoreline was somewhat harsh on Alcester.

George Green and Elliot Evans were awarded the joint man of the match award for their tremendous work rate and Ollie Pittaway scored Alcester’s points with a try.

Alcester are hoping to rewrite the script when they play Stratford again, this time at Kings Coughton for a 2.15pm kick off.
