Alcester 2nd XV 12 Harbury 2nd XV 43
Alcester 2nd XV lost out to a well organised Harbury side at a bright and fresh Kings Coughton despite an excellent start which saw them score with the first play of the game through Ollie Clark.
Harbury hit back with their first try and went onto lead 24-12 at the break, with Alcester’s second try coming thanks to a trademark jinking run by Glyn Smith, which skipper Luke Spencer converted.
Unfortunately that was as good as it got for Alcester as their hopes of a fight back in the second half, playing with the slope at their back, were quashed by the visitors who ran in three further scores.
There were some notable performances for Alcester. Joey Wheeler was man of the match for his performance at 9.
Alec Aucott impressed on his first game back after a lengthy absence.
Josh Ellis played in the pack for the first time and really held his own.
