Claverdon 2nd XV 22 – 7 Alcester 2nd XV
Claverdon earnt the 2nd XV local derby bragging rights on their VPs day with victory over Alcester.
Claverdon used their bigger, more experienced squad to good effect, regularly rolling on players to give everyone a game and keep fresher legs. Despite the changes they remained the better organised side throughout and starved Alcester of possession with regular turnovers.
They led 15-0 at the break through three unconverted tries.
Alcester were reduced to 14 men just before the break but they rallied in the second half and shared a converted score with their hosts. Glyn Smith got the Alcester try which was converted by Tommy Whale.
Kane O’Connor made his debut for Alcester and put in an encouraging performance.
