Alcester 2nd XV 29 - 34 Barkers Butts
Despite a gritty performance and a hattrick from Elliot Evans, Alcester were unable to stop Barkers Butts from clinching a victory on Saturday, 34-29.
Alcester were bolstered by Colt team members stepping up to the senior game and congratulate Freddie White, Joe Smith, Dom Roadley, Pavan Sembakuttige and Colts coach Jonathon Williams for their efforts on the afternoon. As well as returning player Oliver Hamson.
After a spell of possession, Alcester opened the scoring after spinning the ball wide to Kane who scored in the corner.
Evans added Alcester's second, and his first of the game, after dodging several defenders and running thirty meters to score under the posts.
Barkers Butts got themselves on the scoreboard after a good set of hands set them up to cross the whitewash.
The visitors scored again in the opposite corner of the pitch after some simple but effective style of play.
Both sides scored again before half time as Evans secured his second before Barkers Butts scored immediately from the restart making it a close game at the break, 19-17.
The visitors opened the scoring in the second half to take the lead for the first time in the game, as the intensity continued to grow.
Tensions threatened to spill over but Alcester were awarded a penalty which was neatly slotted over to bring the scores back level.
However, the visitors scored two quick tries, one after exploiting the defense and another after a kick ahead bounces favorably in Barkers Butts direction for them to gather and dive over.
Evans rounded out the afternoon with his hattrick but it wasn't enough as the visitors clinched it but the red and blacks were able to walk away with two bonus points from the game.
Next weekend, the first team look to hold on to their top spot in the league with a home fixture against Southam as the second team play the reverse fixture away against Southam 2s.
