ALCESTER RFC UPDATE
Alcester are busy with their preparations for the forthcoming season and have been back in pre-season training for over a month, under the guidance of new head coach Sam Verralls.
Alcester will once again be running three senior sides in the forthcoming campaign, with both the 1st and 2nd XVs commencing their league campaign in September with the 1sts in local derby action at Stratford on 12th September and the 2nds at home to Tenbury Wells on 19th. The 3rds will also be playing regularly and have a first fixture lined up at home to Claverdon 2nds on 12th September.
Both the 1sts and 2nds have pre season friendlies lined up in August. All the games can be seen here on the fixtures page.
Alcester are still on the hunt for new players, who can simply turn up on training evenings, which are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm at Kings Coughton or can contact Director of Rugby, Max Biltcliffe for more information on 07787 500585.
Both league sides will have new skippers this season, with last year’s player of the season Ieuan Hopkin taking over as 1st XV skipper and Joel Barker captaining the 2nds. Sam Fell continues as 3rd XV skipper.
Off the pitch the club has been carrying out work to the facilities with the erection of a covered area over the patio, to provide better shelter for supporters in the winter months in particular. They also are making final preparations for their beer festival on 15th and 16th August. Entry is free and there will be live music at the club on the Saturday and food, real ale and cider on both days. All are welcome.
